‘REBELLION’ is a new musical performance from the cultural project MUR, a chronological and semantic continuation of another popular and resonant performance, You [Romanticism]. It is the next step in a frank conversation about Ukraine's path to freedom, a story about gaining independence. About the day that Ukrainians had been striving for for generations. The performance ‘REBELLION’ covers events from the 1950s to 2001, intertwining personal destinies with key moments in the recent history of Ukraine – from the condemnation of the cult of Stalin at the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1956 to the creation of the People's Movement of Ukraine. MUR presents history in the form of musical compositions and short conversational interludes. It does so anachronistically, allowing us to see history not as a dry chronicle, but as a living process – with pain, ruptures, hope and an inner drive towards freedom.
