The Ukrainian stand-up scene has many bright names, and among them, Lera Mandzyuk is a phenomenon unto herself. The comedian has won everyone over with her unique Transcarpathian colour, sincerity and special charm. Today, her performances draw full houses, and Lera Mandzyuk herself has confidently reached the level of major solo tours. Look for your city on the poster!
From the university stage to big stand-up
She is the youngest of eight children in a large family, but she managed to turn her difficult childhood into a source of humour and inspiration. Lera Mandzyuk studied tourism and dreamed of becoming a tour guide, but fate decided otherwise. She performed her first stand-up routine in her first year of university, right on the university stage. It was then that she realised that the stage suited her.
Then, in Uzhhorod, on the advice of friends, Lera Mandzyuk took part in an open mic night for the first time and immediately won. After an unsuccessful attempt to find a team to play in KVN, the actress began to delve deeper into solo stand-up comedy, and it was this path that became decisive for her. Success was not long in coming: two victories in the show ‘Make the Comedian Laugh’, participation in the comedy project ‘Women's Quarter’, and active performances in ‘Stand up Battle’. All these successes led to a rapid rise in popularity and concerts both in Ukraine and abroad. So, if you want to laugh heartily, be sure to attend Lera Mandzyuk's concert!
Humour you can relate to
Lera Mandzyuk is well known, watched and loved – and that's no accident. Her jokes combine subtle self-irony, real-life stories and accurate observations about us all. The comedian speaks easily and honestly about romantic relationships and loneliness, everyday life and emigration, family dramas and even the most difficult topics, without shying away from black humour.
Lera Mandzyuk's performances are a rare case where the ability to laugh at oneself not only ‘brought her into the spotlight’ but also allowed her to go much further. The actress fell in love with the stage and herself on stage – and generously shares this feeling with the audience. Do not hesitate to come to her solo concerts. It will be funny, touching and very lively!
