Kyiv Planetarium: A World of Experiences
The Kyiv Planetarium is the oldest and largest planetarium in Ukraine, welcoming over 150,000 visitors each year. Its main feature is the opportunity to immerse yourself in a world of spectacle thanks to a large-scale dome projection. The planetarium’s specifications are impressive:
- the screen area is 830 square meters;
- the dome’s diameter is 23 meters;
- the height is 11.5 meters;
- the auditorium seats 320 spectators.
The Kyiv Planetarium is equipped with two projection systems:
- the Zeiss Mark IV optical-mechanical system, installed in 1988;
- the state-of-the-art X12 digital projection system, installed in 2016.
Thanks to these systems, visitors can see the starry sky, the movement of comets, meteor showers, solar eclipses, the aurora borealis, and other amazing phenomena.
Shows for Every Taste
The planetarium’s program features a variety of recreational formats:
- interactive tours (3 types)—standard tours for adults, tours for children, and tours in English. Topics include dinosaurs, space, the depths of the ocean, New Year’s fairy tales, and more;
- ArtSpace party—a combination of artistic events with the planetarium’s unique technological capabilities. For example, musical performances accompanied by 360° video projections featuring jazz, symphonic, organ, or other show programs;
- Meditation programs—help you take a break from your daily routine, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere of the starry sky;
- Educational lectures on various topics—an opportunity not only to gain new knowledge but also to experience the joy of discovery.
The modern Kyiv Planetarium is a multifunctional scientific, educational, cultural, and entertainment space. Its team is developing new ways to engage with visitors: creating educational shows, science labs, workshops, high-tech exhibits, art installations, and unique performances.
